Table Finish How To Do It Yourself

You may not have access to the equipment we have here at the factory to do your table finish. There are ways to create a very nice finish economicaly. It does require a lot of hard work. The more work you put into it the longer lasting the beauty of your finish will be.

1) Our first step is based on what type of stressing is required. A lot of our clients atTradUR Company want an antique rustic look so we do not feel all the knot holes and small imperfections in this case. If the table needs a fine polished look we first fill all the small imperfections of the wood with wood filler.

2) Using a medium grade sandpaper of 80 grade we lose all of the woods loose and rough edges.

3) We apply any additional stressing if needed.

4) After stressing we re-sand the furniture with a 80 grade sandpaper.

5) The furniture is then cleaned of excess dust from the sanding and a coat of the base color is applied by hand brushing and rubbed in with cloth.

6) Once the base color dries we then apply a sanding sealer.

7) After the sanding sealer and base coat dried the furniture is then sanded again using 180 sand paper.

8) The second coat of finish color is applied.

9) This is sanded using a 240 grit sandpaper to a very smooth surface.

10) We then apply the first top coat.

11) The top coat is sanded using a 240 grit sand paper.

12) Gloss is applied by spray coating.

13) Final top coat is applied by spray coating.

Once the finish dries under hot lamps for two days you have a finish that will last for a lifetime.
